It is one of the nicest things to know that while you slumber you can actually lose weight. It is a good encouragement for those who have weight loss ambitions. However, while these foods could help you lose weight you should not let go of your daily exercise routine either.

Fat Burning Food

Citrus fruits like lemons, lime, grapefruit, guava, oranges, tangerines, papaya and tomatoes contain nutrients, fiber and a whole lot of vitamin C. Vitamin C is what encourages the body to burn fat while the nutrients speed it all up and dilute fat. So if you eat a variety of citrus fruit you get the amino acid carnitine the fat burning stimulant. Drinking citrus rich fresh juices is also helpful.

Dairy foods

Drinking milk and eating other dairy products helps to burn down fat cells. This is because dairy products contain mineral calcium and calcium is a good mineral for your metabolism. However, you need to have a daily intake of about 1,200 to 1,300mg for calcium to be effective as a fat burner. Besides calcium, milk is rich in complex carbohydrates which help to keep insulin levels low. Having low levels of insulin means your metabolism will work better. So drink skimmed milk, have yogurt and soft and hard cheeses. Have at least three to four helpings of dairy foods to stimulate metabolism. Most advice against eating before bed as it is not ideal for losing weight. However, snacking on cottage cheese could prove to be helpful as it contains casein protein which burns fat and the amino acid tryptophan which gets you to sleep better and stops you feeling hungry early morning.

Legumes help

Legumes provide lean protein and since proteins are slower to digest they burn more calories. Make sure your dinner is composed of at least one of the following bean varieties like dried or canned kidney, black, navy, white, red, chickpeas or garbanzos, great northern and lima varieties. Drinking bean soup or eating bean salad at night is a good way of burning calories as you sleep.

Whole grains work

Whole grains also keep your insulin levels low and low insulin levels improve metabolism. Whole grains also contain complex carbohydrates. So make sure to include whole wheat, barley, brown rice, wheat bran and wheat germ in your meals. Eating whole grains in the morning is a sure way to remain energized throughout the day as well. Snack on some quinoa before going to bed as that could help burn calories while you sleep. You can also eat some whole grain fruit-filled bar at dinner.

Drink green tea

Green tea is a known metabolism booster as it contains flavonoids. It also has thermogenic properties that increase metabolism and burn fat faster. Drink green tea after meals as that works better. There are hardly any calories or caffeine in green tea and it has very useful antioxidants.

Eating right and getting enough sleep and exercise are the secret recipes to remaining slim as well as healthy.
